Boy, grade 11
My math classes were hard. In 8th grade I had a really hard time in algebra. I just couldn’t get the answers. It was so confusing. Then my 8th grade teacher started showing me different ways to understand. He used graphs and tables and pictures. He never let me go without understanding. So when I went to high school and took geometry I used the same strategies. I would draw and find ways to get the answers. On tests in geometry my teacher would only give me half credit on my correct answers on tests. I asked why. He said that I had to use the formula. I wanted to give up but I told my mom and she came in and we sat and talked about it with the teacher. I ended up getting a “C” in that class. I passed! I still use my strategies.
